I have an idea
I started thinking of a VR game. I have a headset and an interest in both VR and games, and I am both surprised and annoyed that there are so few good VR games I can play. Most are just shooters on rails or “experiences”, like looking out of an elevator or walking a plank. Movement through teleportation feels so weird, and it’s easy to get motion sick while walking with a joystick. I really liked I Expect You to Die, and they managed to make a great VR experience without the player needing to move.
I have ideas for several fun VR games that I would love to play, but I really like one!
The concepts are simple: multiplayer, collaborative, stressful, hectic, and fun. The players should collaborate to finish orders within deadlines. A blacksmith setting would be super cool! The sparks, the glowing metal, and of course, being allowed to actually make swords!
It takes inspiration from games like Overcooked and PlateUp, but at the same time, it is different. The VR interactions cannot be as boolean as controller inputs. The players will rarely sit side-by-side, but instead be in their own homes wearing headsets. I actually don’t know many VR multiplayer games…
I have made some early sketches. These are quickly written and drawn, but it’s a starting point. It also reminds me that if I make this game, I must buy assets. I can make the game, but I cannot make the models or art. It’s not what I am good at.
